Albert knew Anneliese was a holy soul that was no match for him. But deep inside, he couldn’t help but crave and depend on her gentle soul to comfort him.
Albert didn’t confess what he actually did as part of Lord of Crime to Anneliese. He confessed it after the Final Problem Arc and Anneliese reaction still loved him anyway. She was not afraid or fear for the terrible things he had done on the past.
Anneliese knew he was part of this Moriarty Plan since Marvin kept talking about Lord of Crime and the political events that happened. Her father is also a cardinal who knows about the dark side of London and Britain. She connected the dots by herself and it led to a suspicion that Albert was also involved in this. Instead of getting mad at him, Anneliese finally relieved Albert trusted her for this and was able to confess.
When Albert publicly said Anneliese was his, the gossip spread faster and made Anneliese get so much hatred. Anneliese is disliked by noble ladies who admire Albert and they titled her “The Courtly Coquette” or “Enigmatic Temptress”.
Albert is not overjealous man. He tends to keep his cool while seeing Anneliese surrounded by many noblemen. He loves how everyone loves her enigmatic charm. But also deep inside, Albert told himself that Anneliese was the only jewel that would shine the brightest for him. A possessiveness hint inside his friendly smile and green eyes.
Albert took the whole financial responsibility to treat Anneliese’s wound, both mentally and physically after the fire incident.
In post-timeskip, William and Sherlock brought Anneliese back to London and William took her along to visit Albert.
Also, Anneliese changed her name to Anne-Marie. This is due to Anneliese had publicly stated died and couldn’t be found. Knowing she couldn’t go back to her family because of the sins she had made, she decided to live with Moriarty family, especially as Albert’s wife.
